Rejoice, for I Bring you Glad Tidings of Great Joy

Today I am so proud of the people of the United States of America. They have done something that not many peoples have been able to accomplish. They have reacted to a fascist power grab, peacefully and legally but with overwhelming force. I feel as though I have woken from a terrible dream to find a new day. I have always wondered how almost everyone I knew despised what was happening to our country but no one ever seemed to punish the politicians. Last night all that changed. Many of the most disgusting ideologues like Rick Santorum for example have been handed their hats. Our country will not be run by theocrats and warmongers any longer.

Further there are reports that Bush is going to take his loss out on Rumsfeld who according to Air America is going to resign today.

But now is the time for those of us that care about the environment, about civil rights, about fiscal conservatism, about health care, about our place in the world to get busy. If this Democratic congress does not make George Bush Veto a repeal of the Patriot Act and the Detainees bill for example we have in fact won nothing. The fact that they are Democrats does not guarantee that they will act as we wish. We must now badger them every bit as much as we did the Republicans.

Still, Liberals rejoice, the dark night of the soul may be over!

Yes, congratulations from Canada. We are as happy about the changing face of American politics as Americans are. Still, in those states where the votes were split right down the middle, you have to wonder about the millions of people who said to themselves, you know, Bush is alright. I like what he's doing. Think I'll vote Republican again. (!!!$%&????????)
