Rocktober!!!!!!!

I have been so wrapped up in the tide out here in Denver that I haven't thought to write about the surreal tidal wave that has been the Rockies since mid September. I sweated out the end of the season watching the scoreboards, rooting for Milwaukee. We bought LDS and LCS tickets while the Rockies were 2 games out of the wildcard and behind 4 teams. Shouted through the amazing tie-breaker. For you east coast types, it was one of the best baseball games you never saw. Swirled the towel through the LDS sweep clinching game against the Phils. Sat through the 34 degree rain in game three of the sweep of the D-back and laughed as Eric "I can't keep my mouth shut" Byrnes lay prostrate face in the dirt. While one of the best men in sports Todd Helton Shouted at the Heavens releasing the frustration of 11 years with a perpetual loser while piling up Hall of Fame numbers.
Todd and the Toddlers - the nickname for this team two years ago - have grown up. They are the best pitching team since the break and by far the best of the postseason. They led the league in hitting. They are the best defense ever to play the game. It is a little frustrating to hear all the ridiculous east coast press blather about how the AL is just better without any real basis for comparison. (Um, the Rockies pounded Beckett and Schilling to take 2 of 3 in June after Sweeping the Yankees... I guess it depends on how you define better)

This team is otherworldly right now. They are clearly the better team in the series. They will very likely win game one and have a 3 -1 lead by game 5 - though anything can happen in a 3 pitcher series -

Do not be astounded if the Rocks threaten to sweep. This team is the best story baseball has seen in a very long time. I will spend the rest of October watching this marvellous team and even better men play baseball the way it was meant to be played. Highlighted against the self-promoting antics of the likes of Manny Ramirez, their keep your head down and do your job brilliance will shine even brighter.

Go Rockies!!! Come home up 2.

Well, I have to root for the Rockies too, since I'm so NOT a Red Sox fan. (There are many, complex, reasons.) Still, I don't care what you say, the Yankees rule! (Did you know we're planning a trip to New York next August so we can catch two or three Yankees games?)

I'll be watching the World Series with interest, and shouting out encouragement to the Rockies, too. It'll be the first time ever I've rooted for an NL team.
