The First Annual Heckuvajob Awards
As the political year dwindles to a close and the leaves fall, our thoughts naturally turn to reflect on what has transpired. We here at the Prome are no different. So, in that spirit, we would like to take some time to honor the achievements of the past several years with the First Annual Heckuvajob Awards.
Now we were always told never to jump into something without a little bit of a warm-up; some light stretching, maybe a little jog. So, in that vein, our first ever Hecuvajob award goes to Michael Brown. (Hey we don't want to pull anything!)
The President recognized him for his handling of Hurricane Katrina, but no one has ever taken the time to honor him for his management of FEMA. He painstakingly searched for contractors that would safeguard the taxpayer's money. Just think how much it would cost if every time there was the slightest hint that something might happen those trucks and trailers started rolling. That's just sound fiscal management. Also as everyone knows if you want to rebuild a faulty house; you've got to gut it. By stripping FEMA to its skeleton he has prepared it to be built anew; stronger, faster and leaner.
So Michael Brown - Heckuvajob.
He has moved on to become a disaster consultant so if you have a terrible situation that you would like to turn into a full on disaster; give Michael Brown a call.
Wait...What's that?...He's consulting with people who have to deal with disasters?...Oh...Sorry,
our mistake.
Next on our list for his work with the Department of Defense; our second Heckuvajob award goes to Donald Rumsfeld.
Their is a truism in military circles that goes. "Armies are always preparing to fight the last war." Rumsfeld cleverly avoided this trap by not preparing for any war at all. And, when war presented itself, He boldly declared "We're going to fight THIS war with the TROOPS WE HAVE." No looking back going on here. He is clearly in the present moment, dealing with what's in front of him and moving forward. There is also a nod on fiscal responsibility to be given here; his "BYOE" (Bring Your Own Equipment) policy has been a real money saver. It has also been a real hit with the troops allowing them to express their own personal style as the move into combat.
So Donald Rumsfeld - Heckuvajob
Our last Heckuvajob Award for today goes to Mark Foley for his work with the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children. Few people have the moral courage and fortitude to truly get into the mind of an exploiter. But like a good profiler Mark Foley, with reckless disregard for his own reputation, jumped into the role to better understand and fight the menace which is exploitation of children. Most of us would be too afraid that we might suffer some moral corruption by coming in contact with that sort of world but like a holy warrior of old Mark Foley faced the monster with his pants unzipped.
So Mark Foley - Heckuvajob
Now our staff has diligently combed the corners of this country to uncover those worthy of consideration for this award, but still we can use your help. If you have a nominee please drop us a line and give a brief explanation of why your candidate deserves this prestigeous award and we will give it serious consideration.
Thank you and Good evening.

It's Mike Brown. Paul Brown was the owner of the Bengals.
I'll take one of those nominations for my management of that Glitter City thing.
I have made the correction. Thank you my friend. But after the loss to the Yuccaneers Paul Brown may deserve one too ;-)
