Fascism is on the March

Friends, I cannot tonight put the current political events into a satirical framework. Yesterday's events are simply to grave and important. The fascist Neocons of George Bush and Dick Chaney have taken another step along the road that began with the passing of the Patriot Act. The president signed a law yesterday whereby he can declare, with the review of a tribunal he chooses, anyone an illegal enemy combatant, hold them indefinitely without charge or allowing them recourse to law regardless of their citizenship. This law differs only in small measure from similar laws passed in the 1930's in Germany. Kristallnacht is now within the President's power.

Ladies and gentleman, find out how your representatives voted on this legislation and condemn it in the strongest possible language you can muster. America is a place where basic rights are guaranteed in the founding documents. Do not sit by while the government quietly takes them away.

The President asked what will people say in the future if we simply sat by and let things happen. So far, in response to this historic attack on our liberty, American's have done what they always do, changed the channel to Deal or No Deal. Do not let the power grab of this regime continue unanswered. Contact your representatives and senators.
